]]>For a handful of houseplants you might ask a friend to pop by, but your collection isn't just a handful now -- it's much more than that and you want to be sure it'll still be thriving when you get home from your adventures.
Now is the time to hire a plant sitter!
You wouldn't leave your pets with someone who wasn't knowledgeable about the care they need and you don't need to resort to leaving your plants on a whim either.
Bringing on a professional plant sitting service will give you peace of mind to know that someone is caring for your collection just like you would -- someone who is able to tell exactly what your plants need and spot any issues that might crop up while you're away.
When is the best time to hire a plant sitter?
As soon as you know when you'll be away, you can book your dates for our Vacation Plant Care services. Booking ahead will save your spot in our calendar and will give us time to go over any other details you may want to share regarding the care of your houseplants.
We are also able to accommodate last-minute requests. Sometimes business trips or health related reasons may take you away from your home. Our team will help to keep your plants happy and healthy for when you get back.
How often should a plant sitter visit?
Depending on the plants in your collection, you will likely need someone to visit at least once per week. If you are going to be gone for several weeks, you may want to have someone come in 1-2 times a week, especially if you have plants in collection that need to remain moist. If you're not sure how many visits to book, get in touch via hello@plantgoals.ca and we can help you decide what's best.
What does a plant sitter do during a visit?
Goal Tenders will also bring in any mail or newspapers if desired.
How much does it cost to hire a plant sitter?
Our services start at $40/visit, depending on the size of your collection and how often our Goal Tenders will be visiting. When you book 3 or more visits at once, you can save 10% on your total package. Click here for more pricing information and to book your dates today.
Click here to book your Vacation Plant Care dates today or email hello@plantgoals.ca to get in touch with any questions you may have. Thank you!
]]>What is Plant Goals Lifestyle? Apparel and accessories for plant lovers! Tees, sweatshirts, home decor, and more -- all designed with our Plant Goals community in mind -- with shipping across Canada and the United States. Everyday wear, cozy lounge collections, the perfect mugs for your coffee (or plant props!), fun gift ideas, and more.
Why a new site? Since we don't ship our plants and other products, we have decided to go with a separate website to serve our Canadian and US friends as simply as possible. Our sister site will also have it's own loyalty program.
Why online only? To keep this project as sustainable as possible, items will be created to order in Canada and the US depending on proximity and availability. It will also allow us to carry larger array of sizing from XS to 5XL.
Will you carry Plant Goals Lifestyle items in-store? In the future, we may carry some of the same designs at our shop downtown. (Our beanies were a test run!) However, most of the apparel that we will carry downtown will be slightly different and we will use local partners, like Nish Tees, as much as possible.
Follow our new account over at @plantgoalslifestyle to see a peek at what's coming! Our lifestyle brand updates will happen over there, but we will share on our @plantgoalsptbo account here and there.
Thanks so much for all your support, plant lovers! It's been a long time in the making and we're thrilled to finally be sharing it! It's always nerve-wracking to finally share a project like this, so thank you for being here.
If you have any pals across Canada and the US who might be excited about our new adventure, we'd be super excited for you to share the love.
Click here and add your email to get an update as soon as plantgoalslifestyle.com goes live, or mark February 20th at 8pm ET on your calendar! Can't wait!
(If you've been excited to see our fundraiser tees come back, stay tuned. This and a few more surprises are coming your way!)
]]>This morning's announcement was not exactly how we all wanted to start off 2022, but that's alright. We've hit the point where we're actually getting good at flipping the switch and changing up how things run. Which is lightly depressing, but hey, we're rolling with it haha ;)
Our in-store hours will be Monday-Saturday from 11-5pm with the shop closed on Sunday for the next little while.
Local delivery (within 20km of the shop) will be FREE on all orders to make it easier for anyone who needs to isolate or wants to play it extra safe and you will still be able to choose pickup for any online orders.
Our capacity downtown is back to 2 people or 1 household at a time, so we thank you for your patience in advance. It feels like a step backwards, but our fingers are crossed that it won't be for long.
Thanks for rolling with us through all these changes, every single time we've had to pivot, you've been right there with us and we appreciate you more than we can express. Watch our stories and newsletter for some more fun news from the shop in the coming days!
Take care, plant lovers.
And stay safe :)

Hello, plant lovers! Let's dive right into what Ontario's provincewide shutdown means for us here at Plant Goals.
Under the new shutdown measures we will be allowing only one shopper inside at a time.
Previously we invited households in, but under the tighter restrictions, our capacity is truly only one person at a time.
If you are a parent or guardian, we understand that children may need to come with you and this is fine -- same goes for other required caregivers, as always.
Click here for more shutdown information from the provincial government website.
This is a bummer, for sure, but we are grateful to still be allowed to have our doors open and keep our staff employed, so we're rolling with it.
Thank you for your kindness and patience with our staff in respecting these guidelines.
We also ask that customers be mindful of their time inside as there is only so much space for folks to line up outside and we don't want to interfere with our neighbours on Water Street.
We will continue our strict regime of sanitizing and disinfecting inside the shop and our screening process for all staff members and we thank our customers for staying home if they are experiencing any symptoms.
Remember that we also offer zero-contact delivery for those who would like to take advantage of that option. Our Delivery Zones range from Peterborough, through Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland. Click here to check our map.
We will also continue to limit our in-store pickup spaces to 2 appointments per 30 minutes to help keep our line moving.
While this is a frustrating time for so many -- our hearts ache for our friends in the restaurant industry who have been working tirelessly to offer indoor and outdoor dining, only to have that taken away -- we know that this community is truly incredible and dedicated to keeping local alive.
Thanks for your support, friends!
Mask up, sanitize, stay safe, and we'll all get through this together.
]]>We have broken up our delivery area into three Delivery Zones -- Peterborough And Area, Kawartha Lakes, and Northumberland. As these are approximate areas, we've also included a map so you can be certain which route you should choose at checkout.
When you place your order online, you will select your Zone, then proceed to choose a your day. You will also see the delivery timeframe so you have an idea when your goodies will be heading your way.
We've also updated our How To Order page to make sure you know exactly what to do, whether you're choosing something special for yourself or sending a gift to someone you love!
For our extended areas, Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland, you may only see 1-2 delivery days available at one time. For Peterborough, we will still be offering several days per week.
All of this is subject to change due to holidays or delivery demand. and if things are filling up too quick, we'll take a look over our dates and times to make sure we're able to serve as many folks as possible.
Thanks for your patience while we navigate this new system and if you have other questions, send them to hello@plantgoals.ca and we'll be in touch!
]]>Hello, plant lovers! We have a few updates on what's happening at the shop, now that we have been pushed back to the Red Zone.
For stores like ours, it means operating at 50% capacity. When we were in Yellow, with the distancing regulations, we were able to have 3 folks come inside to shop at once. At 50% that's just 1.5, which rounds down to one lovely human at a time.
So, what does this look like for visiting the shop?
We've updated our signage to let you know that ONE person or ONE household can come inside at a time. I know it's not much, and we did debate closing the doors entirely, but we have decided to remain open with this new guidelines in place.
It's a bummer for sure, but we want to keep our staff employed, we want to give our customers the option to either visit in person or shop online for pickup and delivery as always, and we truly hope that things will improve enough over the next few weeks so that we can take a step in the right direction once again.
We have also reinstated free local delivery during this time.
This is a very hard setback for so many businesses, especially for our friends in the food industry. We thank you for all the support you have shown our little plant shop during this time and we encourage our customers to spread that local love around as much as possible, as I know so many of you are! (The Boro is a fantastic resource!)
There are so many wonderful humans in this city and the amount of support and dedication to keeping local alive has been incredibly heartwarming.
Thank you for navigating this with us. I know it's exhausting trying to keep up with what we can and can't do and we appreciate your patience as things continue to evolve.
Thank you!
]]>Jason reached out and asked if we could come up with some ideas for popular plants and their unique personalities. Believe me, it was tricky to narrow it down to just four!
We hope you get a smile out of these cheeky characters!
You can order one of the exclusive prints or bring all four home -- great for gifts or treat yourself!
You have until February 10th to get your orders in and your prints will be ready for fulfillment after the 13th. Order for curbside pickup at our shop or local delivery by heading to plantgoals.ca/wilkins.
And be sure to follow @artofwilkins on Instagram for more creative fun!
]]>However, if you're not sure about how plant-savvy your pal is, or if you want to make sure your coworkers new leafy friend happy, you want to choose something that's low maintenance to set them up for success!
Here are five fun ideas for houseplants that are not only fun to watch grow, but super simple to care for so that your gift keeps on giving all year long.
POTHOS
The tried and true! This is one of our first recommendations for beginners who want something that grows quick. Pothos love bright indirect light, but can handle a little lower. Water when it's dry and looks a little droopy.
These vines grow super long! Hang in a macramé hanger, grab a basket to hang from the ceiling, add it to any shelf or windowsill (make sure it's not too cold) or pop it on your desk. So versatile, so many options -- we love the marble queens, but you can also get neon (so bright!), golden, jade... the list goes on! This is one of those plants that once you get hooked, you just want them ALL.
SNAKE PLANT
We often describe snake plants as "furniture", as in, they are so easy it's basically like buying a chair. A chair that can handle lots of light, but tolerates low light conditions like a boss. You may also find you're only watering it about once a month during the winter, and a little more in the growing season but only when the soil is TOTALLY dry. These guys hang out in sand in the wild, so the only way you're going to kill it is overwatering. Ignore it and it'll be happy!
There are also a ton of different varieties -- another plant you'll want to start collecting ASAP! Black gold, laurentii, black coral, zeylanica, boncel.. so many!
ZZ
The ZZ plant, short for Zamioculcas zamiifolia, has been around a LONG time. This is a centuries old plant that can handle just about anything you throw at it. It'll be living it's best life in bright indirect light with minimal water, but does very well in low light situations, just like a snake plant.
New growth spirals up from its rhizome-like root structure in a bright green and darkens with age, making it a very satisfying plant to watch grow!
NEPHTHYTIS
Also called a Syngonium or an arrowhead plant, for the shape of the foliage, these guys are what I'm calling "the new pothos". I think they are a little underrated and honestly they are SIMPLE to care for. They come in a variety of gorgeous colours, you can trim them back for a bushier plant or let them vine like a philodendron or pothos. They can handle imperfect lighting and you can water when they are pretty dry.
Beautiful, simple, and with so many varieties, there's something for everyone.
PACHIRA AQUATICA
You might know this one as a money tree! The aquatica part of their name is a hint to where they grow and how they like moist soil. Give them bright light, don't let them dry out, and watch them flourish. These can get BIG (I have one at home that's about 4' tall and it started TINY about seven years ago.)
A tip for keeping their canopy even is to give their pot a 1/4 turn each time you water to keep them from reaching one way toward the light. These usually come as several plants with a braided-together trunk giving them a really neat look. Always a favourite!
I hope this gives you a few good ideas for your gift-giving this holiday season and beyond.
And, if you're just starting out with plants, pass this along as your wishlist to someone who might just know you'd love to open up a new plant this year!

]]>Sometimes it's tricky to pick out the perfect leafy present for a pal, especially if you're not sure about their lighting or what they already have in their collection.
We offer gift cards in a couple different ways to make it super simple for you to share the love!
All of our cards are digital based, but you can purchase one right at our shop and our staff will make sure you're able to get the code AND you'll get a fancy pants gift card with an envelope to give your BFF or mom or whoever!
You can visit plantgoals.ca/giftcard and send a digital card right to your friend or family member's inbox. Easy peasy! You can even choose a future date if you want to have it arrive in their inbox in a few days or weeks :)
You can click here to download a template that you can print out and give! We know it's nice to sometimes have that physical gift to include instead of just sending an email. All you have to do is send the digital gift card to your own email, then copy the 16-digit code (looks like a credit card number) right onto the card you printed.
A Plant Goals gift card is a great option for anyone who loves houseplants or is maybe just getting started in the hobby. Send online or pop by the shop to get yours!
